Title : Low-Cost COVID-19 Treatment Facility Design on Environment of Bangladesh
Description : The amount of COVID-19 patients is increasing rapidly in Bangladesh. Soon, It won’t be possible to accommodate the COVID-19 patients in the existing hospitals and treatment centers. So, our solution to this problem is to set up cost-efficient temporary screening facilities and treatment centers dedicated to the COVID-19 patients. Several points are carefully implemented in this model keeping the environment of Bangladesh in mind. Firstly, the materials used in these facilities are selected carefully so that they are low-cost and found in abundance in our country. Secondly, the model is kept as simple as possible to make the construction and cleaning/disinfecting process easy. Thirdly, All the facilities for the doctors, nurses and the workers there had our special focus including donning doffing space of PPE and clean Toilet facilities. A clear demarcation and separation from patient and staff areas to reduce the risk for HCW is ensured. Fourthly, The different levels of risk, represented by patients with specific medical conditions, such as severe cases that might need an aerosol-generating procedure [aspiration, intubation, bronchoscopy, etc.] are kept separately. Also, natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation of HEPA facilities are installed. Lastly, the protection of everyone related to the facility was the main concern of this simple and effective model. In case of a massive outbreak in Bangladesh, these facilities can be built very easily, cost-efficiently, rapidly and with available materials in the market. If any area becomes a new hot-spot in Bangladesh, constructing this facility there as soon as possible can save many more lives than the traditional on-going way of treating COVID-19 patients in Bangladesh.
